I walked out of the Apple Store this morning without any kind of iPad cover because I planned on waiting for the Wallet Deluxe from Happy Owl Studio, and I’m still ordering one, but I realized today that I don’t want to take any chances in the meantime of getting my iPad scratched on the back since I plan to sell it next year when the next gen comes out…SOooooo….I looked over the Apple Store’s meager offerings in the way of iPad cases, and this was the only one worth buying I guess.
It’s done in a very smooth non-grippy rubber..Well, it’s grippy, but it’s refined. I was certainly surprised at the quality when the Apple girl opened one up for me to demo. Still, it’s not really worth $40…A rubber ball costs $5 retail and this is less rubber, just in a different shape. It’s really shameless how they inflate the prices on these things..I did not want to buy this thing, but it’s better to invest $40 now to protect from scratches on the aluminum backing, since my original iPhone with the same backing looked like it had been through a war by the time 3G came out. I layed it on the bed and noticed the rubber is a lint magnet, which is annoying..At least they throw in the cheap little half circle to prop your iPad up on, bravo?
I really wish all the good iPad accessories were available, there’s still no ETA on many of my top picks. So anyway, bottom line on this one: Only buy if you’re like me and absolutely need something NOW to protect the iPad from minor stuff, otherwise wait for something quality that’s actually worth the money.
