Hard Candy has a reputation for making smart durable iPad cases in, well, beautiful candy colors. Lately they’ve been straying from thier traditional designs, i.e. the slightly awkward Street Skin. They’ve strayed again here with the new Squish Skin, but this case has more appeal. Most obviously, it’s much better looking than the Street Skin. Am I crazy or does the Squish Skin almost look ALIVE?
For a skin that adds so much bulk, at least it’s got a laundry list of nice positives, number one being actual viable protection. Out of all the cases out there, this is one of the few that actually looks like it could take a bump! I mean a real drop from chest high, or even a frisbee toss into a wall! It’s comprised of many air-filled chambers, much like Nike Airs, all around the edges, as well as on the back. Your iPad is basically wearing a cool sneaker. The silicon gives great grip and contours nice around your thumb. It’s easily grippy enough for holding the iPad with one hand without slippage, which is something you can’t say about alot of the plastic cases. Though it may not look it by the picture, all the controls are, in fact, easily accessible.
This one comes in six colors: Clear, Black, Orange, Blue, Pink, and Green. They’re available for pre-order now and should ship within the week.
Bottom line is this one looks a little (a lot?) weird so I’m not sure it’s going to enjoy mass appeal, but it’s different, it’s got spunk, and it guarantees your iPad won’t get any boo boo’s.
