Heidi Comfort Dolls Up Your iPad with the New IT-GRIP

Readers of this site may remember her name from our hands-on review of her iPad bags last year, and now designer Heidi Comfort is back again bringing high fashion to the iPad with a truly unique invention the likes of which has not yet been seen in the iPad accessory space…the IT-GRIP. With multiple designs and patterns across various materials including leather, suede, and even mink, the IT-GRIP can definitely add some flare and personal charm to your iPad to make it stand out from all the other ones in Starbucks! When I first saw the IT-GRIP it vaguely reminded me of those cute cellphone charms, except the IT-GRIP actually does more than just look good, it tosses in a little bit of function as well.
IT-GRIPS come made to fit either your iPad 1 or 2, Kindle, Nook, and other supported digital tablets. Each IT-GRIP may fasten differently depending on the design, but they all run along the bezel of your device as to not obscure the screen and allow enough wiggle room for your hand to slide under the band for a much more secure grip on the iPad. Being able to ‘palm’ the iPad with extra support like this can prove pretty useful, especially when reading, and really shines when you’re using the iPad during a presentation or just showing someone else what’s going on on the screen.

Some of the designs have extra features, for example a leather heart design (not shown) has a card sleeve in the back for your Starbucks card, train pass, whatever! Yet another especially useful design featured a snap pocket within the grip itself to hold pencils and pens. Very cool. There’s so many designs available I can’t show them all here, but head over to IT-GRIP.com to check them all out.

The site just launched on April 1st and they plan to frequently add new designs and styles, so it pays to check back often if you’re keeping an eye out for just the right one that speaks to you. Prices on the IT-GRIP range from $14.95 up to $55.00 for the mink version, with many choices in between. Heidi’s also going to be offering a stunning leather iPad case in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that as well!
We should get some hands-on time with an IT-GRIP within the next few weeks so keep an eye on this site for full pictures, info, and impressions!

iPad Couture: Heidi Comfort's Handcrafted Designer Bags Hands On

I’m writing this post from my iPad- in the air! and I have to tell you, I’m a happy camper. I booked my ticket last minute and with a small stroke of luck got seated in the exit row! Gotta love loads of leg room without paying more. The downside is that I was given the dreaded middle seat, but wait! The plane gods were smiling on me today because neither of the people on either side of me showed up, the whole row 9 is MINE! 9 is MINE! So I moved over to the window seat, plopped my bag in the middle, cracked some Pretzel M&M’s and got to work!
I’m also a happy camper because making the journey with me is the soft and luxurious brown messenger style bag you see below by Minnesota based designer Heidi Davis from her boutique Heidi Comfort Couture. You may remember Heidi’s bio from a few weeks ago when we profiled her a bit, and it’s beyond impressive. She’s straight out of Hollywood and has designed clothing and accessories for some astonishingly huge names. I’m not talking third rate stars like Josh Duhmel or the girl from Smallville. I’m talking authentic American icons including Paul Newman, Robert Redford, and two of my comedy idols Steve Martin and Johnny Carson! At her website HeidiComfort.com, she’s focused her talents to creating women’s handbags, but with the release of the iPad she’s put together a collection of Men’s and Women’s bags designed specifically for it. She recently sent me two to review and…giveaway to you guys! The bags are first class all the way which was clear the moment I opened the box, as each bag was waiting inside a handsome drawstring canvas.

She sent me one wild purple and cow bag for women, and a brown messenger style bag for men. After a few days with the brown bag, I’m lovin’ it!

You can virtually feel the softness of the leather through these megapixels. It’s super plush and feels vintage as if it’s been on someone’s shoulder for decades. The body of the bag is soft and floppy but stiff foam inserts provide more than adequate protection for the iPad as well as helps keep the bags shape. I like it when there’s both a shoulder strap and a handle on a bag, since I like options! I’m generally more of a handle guy, and this one is covered in the same soft leather as the body and feels good in the hand, not slippery. Shiny silver rivets add some cool detail as does the unique cut of the flap, this definitely won’t be confused for anything off Amazon, the craftsmanship is evident at even just a glance. The clasps that hold the strap on are different than most and look cool, also the bag is lightweight. The inner lining of the main compartment is soft and black, it will be gentle against the aluminum back of your iPad. The pocket is designed for the iPad only, there’s just one large compartment. An additional very soft pocket on the outside is just covered by the closed flap and is a good size for your phone, keys, etc.

This bag is just one of maybe 20 or more Heidi has available on her site and one of a few that a man could pull off. The iPad is bucking technology trends and it’s one of the few tech products that’s being purchased almost 50/50 by men and women, so the ladies need some bags! And Heidi’s definetely giving them some one of a kind stuff to choose from. There’s far too many to cover in this post, but you can check out her photo gallery here. Some of her bags are more traditional in tone and suitable for business use but some, like this one above, really bang and pop with color and give your iPad some serious personality.
Just like the brown messenger, this upright style iPad bag is made of superior quality materials with special attention to the very cool cow pattern. Up close it looks to textured and real, like brushable hair with real shine. My wife’s face lit up when she pulled this out of the canvas, she thought it was so cool and spunky. And I can guarantee you REALLY won’t find anything quite like this one anywhere. All Heidi’s bags are handcrafted by her, so quality is assured in each one, as is the guarantee you’re getting something unique to you. If you’d like to know more, or order a bag, just visit her site at HeidiComfort.com and drop her a line!

And we’re not done yet! We’re ready to give these two bags away to two lucky readers! To enter just send an email to iPadBags@gmail.com with the subject “Heidi!” and be sure to SPECIFY if you want to enter for the Men’s or Women’s bag…you CAN enter for both, just send a seperate email for each entry! OR Follow us on our NEW Twitter! @iPadBags ! Winner will be drawn July 26th! Good Luck!

iChic: Heidi Comfort Couture Takes High Fashion to the iPad

Looking to upgrade your iPad bag with a true touch of handmade Hollywood flair? Heidi Davis of Heidi Comfort Couture has been a high fashion fixture whose collections have sold in every upscale retailer from Neiman Marcus to Saks Fifth Avenue. She’s also designed personally for stars like Robert Redford, Paul Newman, Johnny Carson, and Steve Martin. Steve Martin! I’m only 32, but I’m easily Steve Martin’s absolute number one fan, so this fact impressed me just as much as her bags!
She’s taken her hand to the iPad and put together a beautiful and diverse array of iPad bags that set themselves apart from the ho-hum usual suspects in the space. From glancing through her iPad bag collection photo gallery the first thing I notice is the variety of materials she’s working with and combining to unique effect. Each one of her bags is hand sewn by Heidi herself so quality is assured, as is the fact you’re buying and owning something special and unique to you.
There’s too many photos to show them all, but my wife and I browsed her collection last night and we picked out our favorites and posted them below. We’ll likely have one of Heidi’s bags on hand within the next few weeks where we’ll post some hands-on pictures and more details. If you’re interested in checking out more of her offerings or placing an order, head on over to her website at HeidiComfort.com .
